
Professor Sun Xianglin (1928.9.1-2008.5.10) was an Associate Professor at the School of Mechanical & Electronics Engineering, Wuhan University of Technology, China. In May 1988, Professor Sun received the message of the Great Dao from Lao Zi under the peaceful, purifying and no subjective action state.
The first recorded scripture is “Li Dan Dao De Jing Correction”. In the subsequent twenty years, he recorded/compiled the following ten relevant scriptures to illustrate different aspects of Dao De Jing:

Professor Sun also drew several hundreds of paintings and calligraphy works that reflect the true spirit and connotation of Dao De Jing. In addition, Profession Sun compiled and imparted the methodology of Dao & virtue cultivation according to the message of the Great Dao.
I. Introduction to Dao De Jing Scriptures
I.I Li Dan Dao De Jing Correction
“Li Dan Dao De Jing Correction” was the first compiled and recorded Dao De Jing Scripture by Professor Sun. According to the Great Dao message from Lao Zi, all the human mistakes and casual modifications of the manuscript over the past two thousand years have been corrected. The corrected scripture presents the true picture of Dao De Jing. In addition, the original eighty one chapters have been amended to eighty one lessons. Each lesson is given a lesson sequence and title so as to differentiate this revelation book from other Dao De Jing editions commonly available in the market. The number of Chinese characters including punctuation characters have been increased to seven thousand one hundred and eleven characters from the original five thousand plus characters. As a result, the true underlying meaning of this Chinese cultural treasure Dao De Jing has been revealed. The scripture has laid the foundation and brought convenience to modern people to understand, appreciate, digest, and disseminate the Great Dao message and culture carried by the Dao De Jing scripture.
I.II Li Dan Dao DeJing Decrypted Interpretation
“Li Dan Dao De Jing Decrypted Interpretation” was the second book compiled and recorded by Professor Sun. For the very first time, this scripture provides the interpretation of Dao De Jing in modern Chinese language. It clarifies all the misunderstandings and misconceptions in interpretation the meaning of Dao De Jing over the past thousand years. It clears the language obstacle and builds up the strong foundation in disseminating the Dao De Jing to the public. It also provides guidance to the public in applying Dao De Jing to daily life, work and Dao/virture cultivation. As quoted in the preface of the book by Professor Sun: its function is to guide the cultivators on how to cultivate Dao/virture more comprehensively, more specifically and more concretely.
I.III Li Dan Dao De Jing Music Score
“Li Dan Dao De Jing Music Score” was the third recorded Dao De Jing Scripture by Professor Sun. Professor Sun had no knowledge in music theory or any music notation. He recorded the whole Dao De Jing music score notation by notation according to the Great Dao message. Professor Sun described the Music Score in Lao Zi Biography as “1) glory sunlight shining following roosters’ crow; 2) increase in spiritual power and 3) illness recovery and saving people from mishap and evil. The more you chant, the more peaceful and open-minded you will become.
I.IV Li Dan Dao De Jing Dao Cultivation Standard
“Li Dan Dao De Jing Dao Cultivation Standard” is also named as “Five Characters Code”, which was forth recorded Dao De Jing Scripture. This book extracts five Chinese characters from each lesson of Dao De Jing to form a title. Each character in the title is initially interpreted by one sentence (subtitle) constructed using another five Chinese characters. Then this sentence (subtitle) is further illustrated by another three sentences constructed using five Chinese characters. It illustrates the mysteries of the Great Dao in a more comprehensive level to guide the cultivators in Dao/virtue cultivation.
I.V Li Dan Dao De Jing Great Dao Standard
“Li Dan Dao De Jing Great Dao Standard” was the fifth recorded Dao De Jing Scripture, which is also named as “Seven Characters Code”. This book is similar to “Five Characters Code”. Seven Chinese characters from each Dao De Jing lesson are extracted to form the title. Then eight Chinese characters (subtitle) explains each character in the title. At last, another three sentence constructed using eight characters illustrates the subtitle.
I.VI Li Dan Dao De Jing Cosmic Evolution Nine Characters Code
“Li Dan Dao De Jing Cosmic Evolution Nine Characters Code” was the sixth recorded Dao De Jing Scripture. This book illustrates Dao De Jing by using nine sentences. Each sentence is constructed by another nine Chinese characters and the sentence is further explained by using another three sentences. Each sentence is constructed using nine Chinese characters.
I.VII Li Dan Dao De Jing Heaven Earth Humanity Life Dao Nature
“Li Dan Dao De Jing Heaven Earth Humanity Life Dao Nature” was the seventh recorded Dao De Jing Scripture. This book directly illustrates Dao De Jing using seven sentences. Each sentence is constructed using seven Chinese characters and is explained by another three sentences (constructed using seven Chinese characters).
I.VIII Li Dan Dao De Jing Yin Yang Five Elements Qi Harmony Scripture
“Li Dan Dao De Jing Yin Yang Five Elements Qi Harmony Scripture” was the eighth recorded Dao De Jing Scripture by Professor Sun. Its context structure is similar with “Li Dan Dao De Jing Great Dao Standard”. It extracts seven Chinese characters from each Dao De Jing lesson to form the title. Then it uses seven Chinese characters (subtitle) to explain each character in the title. At last, another three sentence constructed using seven characters illustrates the subtitle.
I.IX Lao Zi Dao De Jing New Interpretation
“Lao Zi Dao De Jing New Interpretation” was the ninth compiled Dao De Jing Scripture by Professor Sun in consideration of the modern cultural environment and the comprehension ability of contemporary people. More detailed meaning of Dao De Jing is explained in this book. In addition, each lesson is divided into unified paragraphs with individual subject title.
I.IX Lao Zi Dao De Jing Wise Interpretation
“Lao Zi Dao De Jing Wise Interpretation” was the last compiled Dao De Jing Scripture by Professor Sun. With the aim of helping cultivators for further comprehension, cultivation support and application, Professor Sun elaborated Dao De Jing comprehensively, systematically and in-depth in this book. The underlying meaning of each lesson title as well as its commanding role has been explained as well to facilitate cultivators to understand the key summary of the profound meaning for each lesson.
II. Dao De Jing Paintings and Calligraphy Works
Professor Sun created several hundreds of watercolor paintings as well as several hundreds of four Chinese characters calligraphy works (Attached is the scene photo taken when Professor Sun was painting “Dragon Flies, Phoenix Dances”). These paintings and calligraphy works were all created based on received Great Dao message. They are another representation form of the Great Dao message.
